Theatre in Arizona

Many Stages . . . One Community
The Valley of the Sun is home to more than 30 adult-cast community theaters, ten youth theaters, more than seven university theaters, and six professional theaters. Each has an important role in the development of actors, designers, directors, choreographers, stage managers--anyone planning to or currently working in profesional theatre. Many of these theaters participate in the ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence.
In addition to these more traditional theaters, Arizona is also home to several experimental theater companies presenting work in new spaces in creative and innovative styles and challenging our community to see the world in a new light.
On the other end of the spectrum, ASU Gammage is one of the top-grossing Broadway tour houses in the country. Because of this, they are home to many first-run tours--often boasting cast members who grew up in Arizona.
Together we form a diverse and exciting theater community. We challenge you to experience it all. Travel the valley, see what's out there and learn more about this exciting theater town!
